The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is pleased to announce the lineup of Amazon Prime Video Take One Award Finalists, whose short films will be screened, and the winner unveiled during the 34th TIFF. Amazon Prime Video, a major digital streaming service that distributes worldwide a variety of video works including excellent original content, shares TIFF’s goal of discovering new talent and is the award sponsor.
The award is for filmmakers living in Japan who have not made a commercial feature as director, writer or producer. The winning film will be determined by the judging of short film submissions under 15 minutes. The two-month submission period yielded 223 entries, with 9 films selected as finalists.

JURY LINEUP
The jury members comprise a variety of film professions. The jury president is acclaimed filmmaker Yukisada Isao, known for Go (2001), Crying Out Love in the Center of the World (2004), and Theater: A Love Story (2020). His fellow jurors are actress Watanabe Makiko, art director Isomi Toshihiro, former ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to Japan and film director Andrijana Cvetkovik, and Erika North, Head of Amazon Originals Asia Pacific, Amazon Studios.
The 9 selected finalists will be screened on October 30 (Sat), the opening day of this year’s TIFF, from 10:30 am at Screen 1, TOHO Cinemas Chanter. Before the screening, jury president Yukisada and Kodama Takashi, Japan Country Director, Prime Video, will have a talk session.
The award winner will be announced at the TIFF Closing Ceremony on November 8 (Mon) at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya. The winner will be given a prize of 1 million yen by Amazon Prime Video as well as the opportunity to explore the production of a feature film with Amazon Studios.
